Whilst everyone is busy preparing for the festive celebration of All Saints Day today, 1st of November, and All Soul’s Day tomorrow, I am stuck in my room doing nothing but to slouch in my air bed thinking of what to do today. With the thought of spending the day productively I grab my 2-year old notebook and started scribbling the ephemeral ideas exuded by my nutshell.
Well, I got no loved ones buried here in Cebu so I think I don’t need to go to the cemetery while everyone is heading there. I just hate overly crowded places. I will be visiting the nearest church perhaps to light some candles for my deceased loved ones – my mom and dad and other relatives, to let them know that they are still remembered.
On the lighter note, I remember vividly when I was in high school that I used to spend the 1st of November in my classmate’s house. Together with my other high school friends and classmates we gathered in Amylen Moy’s, now Dr. Amylen Moy-Gabino, to celebrate her birthday as well. I often missed some family friends and relatives visiting our house due to my absence. I just find it fascinating to recollect the memories and wish that one day we’ll get together once more after so many years of struggles and challenges building our own names in our chosen careers.
Being said and jotted, I reached for my phone and sent a birthday greetings to my dear friend Amylen. Apparently, it’s good to have your natal day falls on a national or public holiday for some obvious reasons that your friends will never forget your day. Too bad mine falls on an ordinary day. However, ordinary day may it seems still my friends never fail to remember my day.
